Having transitioned from the Navy, Samantha brings a unique perspective to the construction industry, and we are grateful to have her on our dynamic team. Learn more about her background, contributions, and advice for the future generation of females in construction.
From the Navy to Construction
Samantha’s journey into the construction industry was shaped by her experiences in the Navy, where she learned the value of challenging herself and embracing new opportunities. Following her time in the Navy, she entered the construction industry nearly five years ago before transitioning to Live Oak last year.
“Live Oak is amazing,” she said. “They have clear expectations from the beginning, and I’m always learning something. Our CEO, Paul, is an amazing person to work for – he treats his employees like real people, not just numbers.”
Thriving in a Male-Dominated Environment
As the only female superintendent at Live Oak who works out in the field, navigating the male-dominated construction industry hasn’t been without its challenges for Samantha. However, she’s learned to embrace these obstacles as opportunities for growth and improvement.
“There are still some people that believe women cannot work in construction,” she said. “But there is sweet satisfaction in proving them wrong. Everyone I’ve worked with at Live Oak has been willing to teach me and have my back when I’ve needed it most.”
Empowering the Next Generation of Females
As she gains more construction knowledge and hands-on experience, Samantha hopes to one day serve as a leader in the multifamily construction industry.
Her advice to aspiring women in the construction industry is simple yet profound. “Follow your heart and chase your dreams,” she said. “You never know – you might just be the next big thing.”
Samantha’s unwavering confidence and belief in herself serve as a beacon of inspiration to the female future of construction.
