Director of Preconstruction

Jacksonville native and veteran Airborne Ranger Kevin Powell has nearly 25 years of dynamic construction experience. He earned his Construction Management Degree from the University of North Florida, leading him to become an expert in multiple sectors. His areas of expertise include the multifamily, commercial, religious, retail, industrial, and government sectors, with projects ranging from $100,000 to $83 million.

Kevin has held various management positions in the field and the office such as foreman, superintendent, project manager, estimator, and preconstruction manager. Outside of work, he focuses on continuing his education which includes a 30-hour Revit Certification and various real estate development courses. Kevin is also a licensed general contractor and an active member of local trade organizations including NAIOP and Urban Land Institute where he serves on various committees.

At Live Oak Contracting, Kevin leads the new project procurement and business development effort. He also manages all preconstruction phases to achieve the client’s budget and design objectives. These phases consist of cost estimating, constructability review, value analysis, and scheduling. At the completion of the preconstruction process, Kevin and his team ensure a successful transition between the preconstruction and operation teams. 

Personally, Kevin is a proud husband, father of three, and an active member of the community. He works closely with non-profit charities such as the Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation, Alex’s Lemonade Stand for Pediatric Cancer, and Sanctuary on 8th. Kevin enjoys many outdoor activities and is an avid runner. He has participated in philanthropic races such as the Berlin Marathon, New York Marathon, and the Chicago Marathon.
